One of B.C.’s largest construction firms, Scott Construction knows a thing or two about support. They launched the #LunchBoxChallenge, to support our local community businesses and restaurants that are impacted by our current global challenges.

The #LunchBoxChallenge encourages construction companies to buy lunches locally for their sites and nominate another company to do the same. A simple idea to support workers on their job sites as well as help struggling restaurants. The positivity and encouragement it’s bringing to both the construction and restaurant industries are incredible!

Here’s how we took part

Randy Famulak said it best: “As a long term resident of North Vancouver we felt the immediate impact of Covid19, being very close to the initial outbreak on the north shore. At Seagate we are very proud as a company of how everyone from our office staff, our shop and our field staff has handled the challenges of this pandemic. It’s our pleasure to take part in the #LunchBoxChallenge and treat our team to some amazing food. At the same time, we are happy to provide some much-needed business in these difficult times to Sharky’s Chophouse, a long time fixture in the Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.”

We even had the pleasure of speaking with Sharky’s Chophouse Owner, Paulo, who also owns a waffle and crepe dessert place which we also got to indulge in thanks to the #LunchBoxChallenge. Around two years ago, Paulo moved from Brazil to downtown Vancouver. With over 15 years of industry experience and having operated two restaurants in Brazil, it did not take him long to bring Vancouver his delicious crepes, waffles and Sharky’s Chophouse.

When Paulo first moved to Canada he stated he “didn’t know anything about Vancouver” but he caught the sea bus one day to North Vancouver and fell in love right away with “the charm and neighbourhood of people supporting local businesses”. So naturally, Paulo joined the Lonsdale Quay Market, home to over 80 locally owned and operated businesses on the North Shore. Serving up to 6 different types of meat everyday, it often becomes a riot in there when the perogies come out alongside their liquid gold (signature gravy). Paulo’s hoping to call North Vancouver home very soon and we can’t wait to visit the newly renovated Chophouse!

If you’re looking to stock up on the best steaks and more, you can pre-order online at sharkyschophouse.ca or find Sharky’s on DoorDash, SkipTheDishes and UberEats.

Thank you, Paulo, for preparing our orders and personally delivering to our site on the North Shore. We extend the next challenge over to our friends at Urban One Builders.
